Services and Pricing
Scanning and digitalizing photos, slides, and negatives - Old photos, sitting in shoeboxes and forgotten photo albums, can be scanned to create digital copies. Basic photo restoration will improve the color and lighting of faded pictures. You will receive a DVD or thumb drive with the picture files.
Composite photobooks - There are many online services that will allow you to create a photobook (Shutterfly, Walgreens). Creating photobooks requires digital files of your pictures, but they are considerably less bulky and will not fade like they did in your old photo albums. You may like this idea but prefer to have someone else create the books. The cost of this service would depend on the number of photos you have and the number you want on a page.
Video slideshows - After scanning and restoring your photos (priced separately), I can use them to create a professional looking video slideshow. These are great for sharing at special events. What a wonderful gift idea to express your love or celebrate a life.
Video editing - $20 per hour
Videotape to digital conversion - VHS, 8mm tapes, and other videotape formats have a shelf life of about 10-15 years. I can convert your tapes in their existing condition to a digital format. Use the list below to determine pricing. Submit a digital conversion form for each video format you need converting.
Transferring 8mm and Super8 film to a thumb drive or uploaded the the cloud
If you prefer to have the files put on your own thumb drive, there’s no additional cost, or I can supply you with the size drive you’ll need at or around cost.
Converting audio cassettes to CD or flash drive - If you still have any old cassette tapes, they can be digitalized and copied to CD or a USB/flash drive.
*New: Photos for sale - I am in the process of posting photos for sale. This is definitely a sideline, but the photos were taken (mostly by my wife, who is an excellent amateur photographer) during our travels. You might find something that you like, and the cost is only $5 for all photos. You can download the photos to your computer or phone. As far as payment is concerned, I'm using the honor code. If you're local, you can drop it off at my house or send me a check (601 Robin Hood Dr., Yorktown, VA 23693). If you're not local, you can still send me a check, or you can pay me through Venmo (@EricPostman). The pages have a limited number of photos right now, but I'm working to offer a greater variety. If you're looking for something you don't see (e.g., mountain sunset, interesting cloud formations, etc.), let me know, and we'll see what we can find.

Videotape to digital conversion - VHS, 8mm tapes, and other videotape formats have a shelf life of about 10-15 years. I can convert your tapes in their existing condition to a digital format. Use the list below to determine pricing. Submit a digital conversion form for each video format you need converting.
- Start with the base price for digital conversion: see next bullet – this covers the total amount of video per tape, regardless of length; each videotape is converted into a single file (several formats available)
- 0:00-0:15 - $5.00
- 0:16-0:45 - $10.00
- 0:46-1:15 - $15.00
- 1:16-2:00 - $20.00
- Longer than 2:00 - TBD
- Please note: Converting videotapes requires playing them back in real time, which can take up to 6 hours. Unless specifically requested, I only convert live recordings. (Tapes are sometimes filled with recordings of old TV shows.) If a tape does not contain any live recordings to convert, there will be a $5 viewing fee.
- Choose a storage option
- DVD for computer use only – no charge
- USB drive for computer use – I can provide the best size thumb drive at a reasonable price; there is no charge if you provide your own. An external hard drive is a good option if you are having a large number of videos converted.
- DVD for DVD and Blue Ray players – add $5 for each DVD; formatted with main menu for quick access to individual video clips; this option is no longer recommended, but I'm glad to do it if that is your preference
- Cloud Access - videos can be uploaded to a password protected page for sharing with family and friends. Prices vary according to the number of videos and the length of each video.
- Do you have a question or a preference not listed above? Just ask. Maybe you prefer a particular video file format. Maybe you don’t have time to view all your tapes, and you are wondering what if there is nothing worth saving on a tape. Maybe you would like more than one storage type. I will work with you to find the best solution.
