Services and Pricing
Scanning and digitalizing photos, slides, and negatives - Old photos, sitting in shoeboxes and forgotten photo albums, can be scanned to create digital copies. Basic photo restoration will improve the color and lighting of faded pictures. You will receive a DVD or thumb drive with the picture files.
  • up to 500 - $.21 per photo; $.30 per slide or negative
  • 501-1,000 - $.18 per photo; $.25 per slide or negative
  • more than 1,000 - $.15 per photo; $.20 per slide or negative
  • These prices include restoration of photos with minor damage
  • Postage - This will vary according to the size and weight of your package. If you live or plan to visit the Hampton Roads, VA area, we can make arrangements to meet and eliminate the cost of postage
  • Note: Photos should be loose and sorted. Best practice would be to divide and place them in Ziploc bags, labeled. I will use these labels to name your files. I can remove photos from albums, but there is an additional charge of $25 for up to 500 photos and $50 for 1,000 or more.
Restoring old and damaged photos - Price may vary, depending on the condition of the photo, but here is a guideline. There is an additional charge for printing (see next section)
  • minor damage - $.50 per photo
  • moderate damage - $5.00 per photo
  • extensive damage - starting at $5.00 per photo; price will depend on extent of damage. An estimate will be provided.
Printing pictures
  • 4x6 - $1.00 per photo
  • 5x7 - $5.00 per photo
  • 8x10 - $8.00 per photo
Composite photos - An 8 x 10, photograph composed of many smaller photos. These make excellent gifts to commemorate a loved one or special event.
  • $20 for the original
  • $8 for each additional print
Composite photobooks - There are many online services that will allow you to create a photobook (Shutterfly, Walgreens). Creating photobooks requires digital files of your pictures, but they are considerably less bulky and will not fade like they did in your old photo albums. You may like this idea but prefer to have someone else create the books. The cost of this service would depend on the number of photos you have and the number you want on a page.
Video slideshows
- After scanning and restoring your photos (priced separately), I can use them to create a professional looking video slideshow. These are great for sharing at special events. What a wonderful gift idea to express your love or celebrate a life.
  • 3-minute video (approximately 12 photos per minute) - $60.00
  • each additional minute of video - $15.00
  • postage - $5.00 per DVD
Video editing - $20 per hour
Videotape to digital conversion - VHS, 8mm tapes, and other videotape formats have a shelf life of about 10-15 years. I can convert your tapes in their existing condition to a digital format. Use the list below to determine pricing. Submit a digital conversion form for each video format you need converting.
  • Start with the base price for digital conversion: see next bullet – this covers the total amount of video per tape, regardless of length; each videotape is converted into a single file (several formats available)
    • 0:00-0:15 - $5.00
    • 0:16-0:45 - $10.00
    • 0:46-1:15 - $15.00
    • 1:16-2:00 - $20.00
    • Longer than 2:00 - TBD
      • Please note: Converting videotapes requires playing them back in real time, which can take up to 6 hours. Unless specifically requested, I only convert live recordings. (Tapes are sometimes filled with recordings of old TV shows.)  If a tape does not contain any live recordings to convert, there will be a $5 viewing fee.
  • Choose a storage option
    • DVD for computer use – no charge
    • USB drive for computer use – I can provide the best size thumb drive at a reasonable price; there is no charge if you provide your own.  An external hard drive is a good option if you are having a large number of videos converted.
    • DVD for DVD and Blue Ray players – add $5 for each DVD; formatted with main menu for quick access to individual video clips
    • Cloud Access - videos can be uploaded to a password protected page for sharing with family and friends.  Prices vary according to the number of videos and the length of each video.
  • Do you have a question or a preference not listed above? Just ask. Maybe you prefer a particular video file format. Maybe you don’t have time to view all your tapes, and you are wondering what if there is nothing worth saving on a tape. Maybe you would like more than one storage type. I will work with you to find the best solution.

Transferring 8mm and Super8 film to DVD or thumb dive - the price for a standard 3” reel is $15 for the digitalization (or 5 for $50). For a 5" reel, it is $20.  For a 6" or 7" reel, it's $30.  It’s an additional $5 for a DVD. Multiple films can fit on one DVD.

If you prefer to have the files put on your own thumb drive, there’s no additional cost, or I can supply you with the size drive you’ll need at or around cost.

Converting audio cassettes to CD or flash drive - If you still have any old cassette tapes, they can be digitalized and copied to CD or a USB/flash drive.
  • $20 for conversion to CD
  • $25 for conversion to USB/flash drive ($20 if you supply the drive)
  • $10 if any repairs need to be made to the tape
